As an Orlando newborn photographer, I usually photograph in-home sessions mid to late morning. I prefer this time because in most homes, the light is bright and streaming beautifully through large windows at that time. When we are planning your session, it is good to think about what room or rooms in your home have the best natural light, or window light. I will typically turn off all of the ambient lights so there are no orange color casts or ceiling lights casting shadows under eyes and noses.
Many of my clients feel their homes just don’t have any good light. Please don’t fret! If you have a room with a large window, I can make it work! Other options are also opening blinds, curtains, doors to get that gorgeous, clean light pouring into your images. We may even step outdoors for some images on the porch or in a shaded area in the yard.
Sometimes, the best light for photographs is not in the most obvious places, like the nursery or master bedroom. Maybe the light is amazing your kitchen or guest room. The art we make together is about the connections between you and your family, enhanced by really beautiful light and your favorite outfits! I am so grateful that my clients trust me to find good light and deliver the images of their dreams. If you want newborn photos in the comfort of your home, we will make it work!
I love in home newborn sessions because you already have everything you need to soothe your new baby right at your fingertips. There is also something to be said about having images that connect you to the first place your brought your baby home to. The nostalgia of this season with your baby is one I hope you will feel each time you look through your album or walk by your framed favorites in the hall.
Have you been dreaming about an in home newborn session once your new baby is earthside? Please don’t hesitate to reach out so we can start planning beautiful ways to remember this season!
