This Chicago wedding weekend was so much fun – for everyone! Lela and John are such an amazing couple. They made it their mission for this celebration to be one for the books! Beautiful city views, drinking, singing, dancing, and fun for all ages, from the 10 children standing up in the wedding to the grandparents, everyone was having an incredible time. This family has no shortage of love and vibrance!
The weekend began with a gorgeous rehearsal dinner atop Navy Pier at Offshore Rooftop with stunning views of the entire city. Lela and John visited with family and friends from their home town and from afar. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served alongside Chicago food staples like Italian beef sandwiches and classic hot dogs. We took some time for a few portraits along the iconic Navy Pier with the skyline backdrop, dripping in beautiful pastel colors from the cloud filled sky.
Lela and John’s wedding day was nothing short of breathtaking. The morning rain cleared up just in time for all the festivities to begin. The girls started their day at The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile with hair and makeup by Shannon Marie Bridal who did a beautiful job getting the bride and all her friends wedding ready. The bridesmaids wore black dresses in different styes for a polished and classic look. Lela chose simple and elegant formfitting Alyssa Kristin gown in ivory with delicate button detailing down the back that she purchased at Bespoke Bride in Bend, OR before moving back to Chicago. She paired this with a loose bun, cathedral length veil and beaded heels to complete her wedding day look. Lela was absolutely stunning!
John and his father shared a drink as they got ready in tuxedos from Men’s Wearhouse in classic black and white with black bowties. John met up with his groomsmen in the Marriott bar for a drink before heading off to see his bride for their first look. John and Lela shared a sweet and emotional first look in the courtyard of The Ivyroom Chicago. Tears of happiness were streaming down both of their faces, their love for each other was palpable! The excited couple met up with their friends for a trolley ride around the city for some bridal party photos and fun. The trolley was filled with music, drinking games, dancing and lots of laughs.
We arrived back at the venue for the wedding ceremony and reception. John and Lela were wed in the lovely Ivyroom courtyard surrounded by their family and friends. This venue is straight out of a fairytale, tucked away from the city in a private courtyard with lush, green ivy climbing up the entire length of a 4 story brick building. Nine of the cutest ring bearers and flower girls began the procession, much to the delight of all who were there. They were adorable! John and Lela recited their own heartfelt and intimate vows to each other and there was not a dry eye in the audience. The love they have for each was easily recognized by all who witnessed their beautiful words to each other.
Cocktail hour in the courtyard followed with drinks and appetizers, photos and conversations. Love and laughter filled the space. Once everyone was called in for dinner and the reception, speeches were shared by parents and friends. The speeches were both witty and full of heart, a true testament to the strong relationships Lela and John seem to have with all the people in their lives. First dances were shared with the father of the bride, mother of the groom and finally, the bride and groom. Their first dance as husband and wife broke into the whole crowd hitting the dance floor to join them. It was time for the real party to get started. The dancing began quickly and everyone was out on the dance floor, I mean everyone!!! This group certainly knows how to have a good time and what a night it was!
Lela and John, Mary and I were so honored to be a small part of your special day. We wish the two of you all the happiness in the world. We hope you are having the most amazing honeymoon in Portugal and Greece! Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Davern!!
