Lifestyle Newborn Sessions in Orlando: What to Expect
You just brought home a brand new baby. You are running on about three hours of sleep, your house looks like a beautiful disaster, and somewhere in the back of your mind you are thinking, “We really should get newborn photos done.” But then comes the second thought: Is this actually the right time to have a photographer in my home? I am here to tell you – yes, it absolutely is, and it is going to be so much easier than you think.
Lifestyle newborn sessions are designed with you in mind, exactly as you are right now. Not the polished, fully-rested version of yourself. The real one – wrapped in a soft robe, snuggling your baby, breathing in that indescribable new baby scent. That is the version I want to photograph, and that is the version your future self will treasure most.

The Season You Are In Is Already Beautiful
There is a lot of pressure on new parents to “capture everything perfectly” before the newborn phase slips away. And while that instinct is right – because it does go fast – the pressure to have everything perfectly in place before a session can actually get in the way.
I am a mom of three. I know what these early weeks feel like. The beauty is not in a perfectly styled nursery or a well-rested face. It is in the way you hold your baby close, the way your toddler leans in to steal a kiss, the way your partner rests a hand on your shoulder while you both stare down at this tiny new person you made together.
That is what I am here to document.

What “Flexible and Baby-Led” Actually Looks Like
A lot of photographers use the words “relaxed” and “flexible” – but what does that actually mean when you are the one holding a fussy newborn at 10am?
For me, it means the session follows your baby’s cues, not a rigid shot list.
Here is how I approach it in practice:
- We swaddle your baby to keep them cozy and content. Newborns love to feel snuggled in close, so parents are often holding or wearing their babies throughout the session. This is natural, beautiful, and exactly what I am looking for.
- We build in plenty of time. There is no rushing. If your baby needs an extra feeding, a diaper change, or twenty minutes of soothing before we can continue, we make that space. The session is designed to flow around your baby, not the other way around.
- I follow your family’s energy. Some sessions are calm and dreamy. Others have a busy toddler narrating everything from across the room. Both are wonderful, and both make for real, meaningful photographs.
- I set up some gentle poses, then I step back. Some of my favorite images happen when I put my camera down and just let your family be. At a recent session, a big sister climbed right into the crib with her new baby brother – completely unprompted, completely unplanned, and completely perfect. I could not have staged that moment if I tried.
That is the kind of image you will look back on in ten years and feel something deep in your chest.

You Do Not Have to Do Much – I Take Care of the Details
This is the part I genuinely love telling new clients, because the relief on their faces is immediate.
Here is what I handle so you do not have to:
- Professional hair and makeup is included, so you feel confident and beautiful on camera – even if you have not slept a full night in two weeks.
- Access to my client wardrobe means you and your family have beautiful, curated options to choose from. No last-minute panic about what to wear.
- Styling guidance for your whole family is part of the process. I take care of those little details so the photos feel cohesive and intentional without you having to think too hard about it.
Your one job is to show up, hold your baby, and let yourself be present. I will handle everything else.
Please Do Not Clean Your Whole House Before I Arrive
I say this with so much warmth – I promise I mean it.
For in-home sessions, you do not need your home to look magazine-ready. We are going to find one spot with beautiful natural light and work there. That might be your bedroom. It might be the guest room you barely use. It might be a light-filled hallway you have never once thought of as a photo location.
With the right light, your photos will look incredible and feel nostalgic in the best way. That soft, airy quality that makes you want to reach through the screen and touch the image? That comes from light, not from a tidied living room.
So please – leave the dishes. Sit down. Let me come to you and find the beauty that is already there.

Why These Photos Matter More Than You Know Right Now
Right now, in the thick of this season, it can be hard to see just how extraordinary it is. You are in it. You are tired. You are figuring it out day by day.
But these images are not just for today. They are for the version of you ten, fifteen, twenty years from now – the one who will pick up this album and feel that whole season come rushing back. The weight of your baby in your arms. The way your toddler looked right before she became a big kid. The way your family looked in this exact moment of becoming.
I photograph for your future self. And I promise, she will be so grateful you did this.
